Resting Well

The writer of Hebrews encourages us to "be diligent to enter that rest" (Hebrews 4:11).  In this audio podcast Paul Richardson and Mike O'Quin discuss that paradox and why it's so important for our frenzied souls to find some real rest, especially before and after seasons of advance.  God has a sane rhythm of life for us and we can learn how to savor each season.

  1. Hi Mike and Paul,
I was very encouraged to listen to this conversation on resting and it was spot on for some of the circumstances I am going through. Even though I am in a country with four seasons (Australia), I feel it is very easy to get stuck in 'seasonless' periods where we fail to enter that place of rest that God desires us to be in. Looking forward to the next instalment!

    1. Thanks so much, Leighton, for taking the time to let us know how you his conversation stirred you…hopefully into a deeper place of rest. We’ve already recorded the second podcast and will post it later this week. Thanks again, — Mike O

  2. Paul and Mike, thanks guys for sharing your thoughts on this.
For some reason, rest has always meant the opposite of what you shared, Paul.  My thoughts about rest were always rooted more closer to rest that moves one to vege.  Unfortunately, anything that would imply or suggest movement away from that state of mind, often brought frustration and separation from the husband, father, and follower of Jesus I have been called to be.  There is something to that that I had not considered prior to listening to your conversation.  Rest that is centered on isolation has been an avenue of disconnection.  Rest that leads to reflection, that provides momentum for life!  That sounds like something to step into!
